PM Modi Lays Foundation Stone Of Secunderabad Railway Station Redevelopment Project: See Pics

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a visit to Telangana, laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of Secunderabad railway station on Saturday. PM Modi reached Hyderabad on Saturday. He was received at Hyderabad’s Begumpet airport by Telangana Governor Tamilisai Sundararajan and Union Minister G Kishan Reddy. Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Bandi Sanjay was also present at the airport.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao did not receive PM Modi at the airport. Instead, the CM deputed state minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav to receive the prime minister at the Begumpet airport in his absence. The Telangana CM also skipped Prime Minister Modi’s program in the state on Saturday.

In an event at the Parade Ground in Hyderabad, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of Secunderabad Railway Station and other infrastructure projects. According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the redevelopment of Secunderabad railway station, to be done at a cost of Rs 720 crore, is being planned in such a way that it will undergo a massive makeover with world-class amenities and an aesthetically designed iconic Will pass through station building.

The redeveloped station will have a double-level spacious roof plaza with all passenger amenities at one place, as well as multimodal connectivity to provide seamless transfer of passengers from rail to other modes.

During the event, the Prime Minister flagged off 13 new Multi-Modal Transport Service (MMTS) services in the suburban section of the Hyderabad-Secunderabad twin city region, providing fast, convenient and comfortable travel options to commuters.

He also inaugurated the doubling and electrification of Secunderabad-Mahbubnagar project. The project covering a distance of over 85 km has been completed at a cost of about Rs 1,410 crore.

The PMO statement said that the project will provide seamless connectivity and help in increasing the average speed of trains. During the event, the Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for National Highway projects worth over Rs 7,850 crore. These road projects will strengthen the road connectivity of both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and help in the socio-economic development of the region.

It is India’s first Vande Bharat Express connecting Tirupati – a city in Andhra Pradesh that is home to the important Hindu temple of Tirumala Venkateswara Temple and other historical temples. It is the 13th Vande Bharat Express of India which will run between Secunderabad in Telangana and Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh.
