The State Department said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has invited US President Joe Biden to visit India, adding that New Delhi looks forward to the US leader’s visit “at the earliest and at mutual convenience”.

Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla said at a special briefing, “Prime Minister Modi invited President Joe Biden to visit India. President Biden expressed his thanks and appreciation.

Prime Minister Modi, who is on a three-day visit to the US, held his first bilateral meeting with US President Biden and attended the Quad Leaders Summit.

On Thursday, Prime Minister Modi invited US Vice President Kamala Harris to visit India, praising her as a “source of inspiration”.

PM Modi said, “Your election as the Vice President of America has been an important and historic event. You are an inspiration to many people across the world. I am sure that under President Biden and under your leadership our bilateral relationship will reach new heights. Will touch.” At a joint press conference with Ms Harris after the two leaders met.

He said, “Continuing this journey of victory, the Indians would also like you to continue it in India and that’s why they look forward to welcoming you. I invite you to come to India.”
