The AIIMS campus will have a 750-bed multi-specialty centre, 1000 seater auditorium, 100 seater MBBS college, student hostel and residential facility for in-house staff.
Prime Minister Modi dedicated the In-Patient Department (IPD) and Operation Theater services to the nation at AIIMS Deoghar during his visit to Deoghar, Jharkhand on 12 July 2022. PM Modi had earlier said, “AIIMS, Deoghar will be inaugurated in line with our commitment to provide high quality health services like IPD and OT.”
According to the Centre, setting up of these new facilities at AIIMS Deoghar will help in achieving the twin objective of providing super specialty health care services to the population and create a large community of health workers for the betterment of the region. AIIMS Hospital in Deoghar, Jharkhand will not only cater to the people of Jharkhand but also the people of neighboring states of Bihar and West Bengal.
OPD with night shelter services was started in August 2021. Interestingly, it was PM Modi who laid the foundation stone in 2018 and within 4 years, AIIMS Hospital has been made operational with IPD and OT services. In addition, hostel accommodation for medical students along with academic classes has started from the AIIMS Deoghar campus.

The construction work for AIIMS Hospital was entrusted by the National Building Construction Company (NBCC) to the firm NKG Infrastructure Limited, New Delhi. This work is being implemented by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare under the PMSSY scheme.
