“Words like good governance, change, reform or economic development will not solve the problems faced by the country. It is not just administration… the leader has to handle the development, preserve and advance the culture of the country, ensure security – all this can only be done by a leader who is supported by the people. Only those who come from the ground up and understand the pain of the poor can change this,” said Shah while speaking at the National Conference on Delivering Democracy: Narendra Modi as the head of the two governments organized by Rambhau Mhagi Prabodhini Review of two decades of .

The Home Minister reiterated that Modi’s reforms in the education sector in Gujarat laid the foundation for the state’s development. He said, “I have been trolled for saying this.. but I want to say it again. No country can develop by taking an army of those who are not aware of their rights and their duties in the Constitution, They cannot participate in the development of the nation.”

“It (his similar remark earlier) was interpreted in such a way that I am against the illiterate. I am not against them… in fact I believe they are victims of the system. It is the responsibility of the system to educate them and those who are not doing so are irresponsible.”

In an interview with Parliament TV on Narendra Modi’s 20 years in power, first as the Chief Minister of Gujarat and then as the Prime Minister of India, Shah explained how the current government has contributed to increasing enrollment in schools. . Describing the educated people as a “burden on the country”, he has said that “uneducated people can never become good citizens of India”.

“In 2014, there was a big question in the minds of the people whether the multi-party system would be successful in protecting the democratic system. Shah said people have Modi’s track record – after taking over the reins of Gujarat in 2001 – how he made Gujarat the first state with 24-hour power supply, development in education sector and agriculture sector.

Everyone started feeling that if it can happen in Gujarat then why can’t it happen in the whole country… That’s why they gave Modi ji a chance.

He said that decisions like abrogation of Article 370 did not cause any law and order problem.

Shah said Modi may launch schemes like the Ujjwala scheme as he comes from a poor background and has seen his mother battling with fire and smoke in the kitchen.

He added: “He has presented a human face to GDP.”

Taking strong exception to the criticism of Modi’s schemes being copied by previous governments, Shah said the Prime Minister has changed the size and scale of the schemes. When previous governments had limited the number of beneficiaries, Modi has taken (schemes) to all poor households in the country – be it toilets, houses, LPG connections or drinking water.

Speaking at the event, BJP leader and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis called Modi the “Governance Guru” in the country. Pointing out that Modi had followed the path of BJP ideologue Deendayal Upadhyay, Fadnavis said Modi has brought the welfare of the poor at the center of politics and worked hard on the distribution system and network. “Under him the nation has seen a growth rate which is spread across the poor and their welfare, so it spurred economic growth by boosting demand. The governance and delivery system will be on auto pilot in the coming days,” Fadnavis said.

BJP Rajya Sabha MP, Rambhau Mhalgi’s Vice President Prabodhini, a think tank working closely with the BJP also spoke on the occasion.
