PM launches blockchain-based degree transfer technology for digital quotes at IIT-K convocation India News – Times of India

Kanpur : Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over the 54th convocation on Tuesday It Kanpur Where he launched the blockchain-based degree transfer technology with which digital degrees were awarded to students. Program organized in hybrid mode and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was also present as a special guest.
Students who were not physically present during the convocation received digital degrees through an in-house blockchain-powered technology developed at the institute under the National Blockchain Project.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded IIT-Kanpur for the institute’s role in developing blockchain-based degree transfer technology and contributing to 5G technology. He presented medals to two meritorious students physically present during the convocation.
He quoted Swami Vivekananda to give a message to the students: “Every nation has a message to deliver, a mission to accomplish, a destiny to reach.”
The PM said, ‘When you came to IIT-Kanpur, you might have had ‘fear of the unknown’ in your mind. Also, your knowledge base was limited. IIT-Kanpur has provided you with a bigger canvas. You no longer have ‘fear of the unknown’. Your personality develops. You have gained a lot of experience. Your ideas have expanded. Ever since you came here to study, you must have felt a change in yourself. Wherever you go, you will do value addition. Your knowledge and skills will benefit you in the practical world. Your thoughts should be good for the country and society.”
He further told the students that the country is celebrating the 75th anniversary of independence and work will have to be done to give momentum to the country for the next 25 years. He told the students that this was the golden age of his life.
He also lauded the IIT-Kanpur-incubated company, which has developed and installed the world’s first floating CNG station at Khidkiya Ghat in Varanasi using new self-adjusting fixed type jetty technology. Also, praising the contribution of Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) across the country, he said that India has emerged as a mega start-up hub on a global basis and this has been achieved with the help of the students of IITs.
Appreciating the contribution of IIT-Kanpur in the development of technology, he said that the students present in this program have made it possible. He also added that It KanpurIts 5G technology initiatives are now recognized globally.
The PM relied on the use of technology in various sectors such as energy and climate solutions, high-tech infrastructure, health infrastructure, disaster management and also highlighted the importance and use of artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) .
“You (students) have a huge responsibility to make ‘India’ advanced and developed,” he said. He said that “We have also started schemes like Startup India, Stand Up India, National Education Policy (NEP) to prepare for the future.”
He also said that in the last six months more than 10,000 startups came into existence and India ranks second in the world for launching maximum number of startups. “We have become a startup,” he said, receiving applause from the students. “I want to assure you that the government is with you.”
He said, “It is a day of double happiness for the people of Kanpur. On the one hand, the gift of metro is being received and on the other hand, in the world of technology, today we will get talented students passing out from IIT-Kanpur. I congratulate all of you and your parents and teachers. He has worked hard for you. His contribution to your life has inspired you to see this day. I congratulate you all.”
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, “We all know that technical institutions of the country play an important role in providing quality education. And especially with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, IIT has been given the status of Institute of Indigenous Technology. The country has implemented the new National Education Policy 2020 to fulfill the vision of “Self-reliant India”.
“The state government has mutually contributed with IIT-Kanpur on several projects such as being a technical partner in the Defense Manufacturing Corridor and setting up a Center of Excellence in the field of AI. Now, the state government has linked an upcoming School of Medical Research and Technology (SMRT) with a super-specialty hospital, which will enrich the health system of the state,” he said.
IIT Kanpur Director Prof. Abhay Karandikar said, “IIT-Kanpur is contributing in a big way to all the pillars of the country’s development, be it at the national level or at the grassroots level, and in that relentless journey, it is the students who have joined hands with the guiding faculties. I congratulate all the degree recipients and awardees on behalf of the institute.

After the formal inaugural session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made an immediate visit to the lecture hall to meet the students and interact with them personally. The students were taken aback by the sudden meeting and conversation. A student said, “We were very happy to see Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji suddenly there. His presence and his words not only encouraged us, but also made our convocation a lifetime memorable one.”
