PM congratulates COAS of Pakistan on coming out of gray list of FATF – Henry Club

ISLAMABAD: With Pakistan moving closer to completing the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) action plans and exiting the gray list, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday congratulated the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

The anti-money laundering watchdog announced on Friday that Pakistan has “substantially completed two of its action plans” – out of a total of 34 items on the list – and removed it from the gray list after visiting the site. will go

During the telephonic conversation, the Prime Minister appreciated the “Core Cell” set up at the General Headquarters (GHQ) for its efforts to complete the item list of the Anti-Money Laundering Watchdog.

“I appreciate the civil and military leadership working with the Corps Cell,” the Prime Minister said.

In its statement issued after the four-day plenary session in Berlin, the watchdog acknowledged that the political commitment needed to maintain implementation and reform in the future remains.

A day earlier, the army chief had termed the announcement of FATF as a ‘big achievement’ for Pakistan.

“The completion of the FATF AML/CFT (Anti-Money Laundering/Combating the Financing of Terrorism) Action Plans by Pakistan is a major achievement,” the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement quoting the Army Chief.

Meanwhile, in separate telephonic conversations, the Prime Minister also appreciated Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and Finance Minister Mifta Ismail for their efforts in this regard.
