Petrol, diesel prices increased today, increased by Rs 10 in 16 days; check fuel rates

On Wednesday, the price of petrol was increased by 80 paise per liter and diesel by 80 paise.

Petrol and diesel prices were again hiked by 80 paise per liter today, taking the total increase in rates to Rs 10 per liter in 16 days. According to the price notification of the state fuel retailers, the price of petrol in Delhi will now be Rs 105.41 per liter, while the price of diesel has increased from Rs 95.87 per liter to Rs 96.67. In Mumbai, petrol and diesel prices per liter are Rs 120.51 (an increase of 84 paise) and Rs 104.77 (an increase of 85 paise) respectively.

Rates have been increased across the country and vary from state to state based on local taxation events. This is the 14th increase in prices since the end of a four-and-a-half-month-long hiatus in the rate revision on March 22.

Amid the rise in prices, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Tuesday defended the Union government on the issue of hike in fuel prices in comparison to other countries. The hike in fuel prices in India is 1/10 of the increase in prices in other countries.
