‘People think I know the police department’: Anup Soni refers to the hilarious impact of Crime Patrol

Actor Anoop Soni is quite a popular name in the entertainment industry. He has worked in films as well as TV daily soaps. Later, his fame increased manifold when Anoop anchored the crime show Crime Patrol. When he shifted from theater to TV and film industry, Anoop always maintained a ‘clean’ image on the screen. With his roles in films and then the superhit show Balika Vadhu, Anoop carved out the image of an honest man. Hence, he also got similar roles.

Talking about it, Anoop told Hindustan Times, “It was never a deliberate attempt. I think you have a personality and some roles suit that.” In 2010, Anoop started anchoring the show Crime Patrol, which became his hallmark within a few years. He recalled that Crime Patrol was perfect for him. The new platform was there. The makers never thought it would be a super-duper hit, and neither was it the plan.

Apart from bringing him pan-India recognition, fame and success, Crime Patrol has done one thing which Anup finds amusing. The actor shared, many believe that because of his role as a host in a crime show, he should get to know real police officers and can help them with ‘police contacts’. Anoop said, ‘People have this misconception that I know the entire police department. I keep pleading for help all the time.”

The actor says that he is not aware of how to convince people that he is a common man like him. “What I do is that if someone tweets to me, I retweet so that it reaches the right people. As an actor, it happens. When Arun Govil played the character of Lord Ram, people used to touch his feet. It is nothing in comparison,” said Anoop.

Anoop is currently working on a podcast titled The Unsung Heroes for Rainshine Entertainment. In the podcast, the actor talks about the inspiring journey of 20 Indian achievers.
