People defeated BJP’s dirty politics, appreciated AAP’s good work: Kejriwal on Rajinder Nagar bypoll

The Aam Aadmi Party won the Rajinder Nagar assembly bypoll in Delhi, with its national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday terming it a defeat for the BJP’s “dirty politics” and thanking people for appreciating the work done by his party’s government in the national capital. Gave.

Aam Aadmi Party’s Durgesh Pathak defeated BJP candidate Rajesh Bhatia by a margin of over 11,000 votes in the bypoll on Sunday.

“All the 16 rounds of counting of votes have been completed. AAP candidate Durgesh Pathak defeated his nearest rival Rajesh Bhatia (of BJP) by a margin of over 11,000 votes.

Thanking the people, Kejriwal tweeted in Hindi, ‘Heartfelt thanks to the people of Rajendra Nagar. I am grateful for this immense affection and love from the people of Delhi. It motivates us to work harder and serve. People defeated their dirty politics and appreciated our good work. Thank you Rajendra Nagar, thank you Delhi.”

As Pathak was marching towards winning the seat by a comfortable margin, congratulatory messages started pouring in with senior AAP leader and Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia saying the election results show that Kejriwal lives in people’s hearts.

“Many congratulations to my dear brother @ipathak25 (Durgesh Pathak) on being elected MLA from Rajendra Nagar Vidhan Sabha. Congratulations to all AAP workers for the victory,” Sisodia tweeted in Hindi. He said that @ArvindKejriwal ji lives in the heart of the people of Delhi.

According to official figures, AAP’s Pathak got 40,319 votes, while his nearest rival Bhatia got 28,851 votes. The margin of victory was 11,468 votes. Congress candidate Prem Lata got only 2,014 votes in the by-election.

The poll panel is yet to reveal the final polling figures. The by-election to the crucial assembly seat was held on June 23 with a low turnout of 43.75 per cent. Fourteen candidates threw their hats into the fray in what has largely been seen as a fight between a confident AAP and a spirited BJP. Counting of votes began at 8 am amid tight security.
