Patna: Ward councillor, 11 others detained for thrashing cops on duty | Patna News – Times of India

PATNA: A ward councillor and 11 others were detained for thrashing policemen on duty and misbehaving with a senior officer.
The incident took place late Thursday night on Ashok Rajpath near Pirbahoure when the cops in the civil uniform had gone for a raid to catch some culprits following a tip-off.
While returning, they saw four men, who started running away. When the cops caught two men, the locals gheraoed them near Pirbahoure police station, got the men freed and hit the police.
One of the constables was badly injured in the incident and admitted at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH).
Patna SSP Manavjet Singh Dhillon said ward councillor Asfar Ahmad was among those who were leading the crowd.
Apart from representing the local body, Afar is associated with the Congress, while his father Anwar Ahmad had been a former RJD MLC.
Sources said apart from Asfar and several other locals, Anwar too was detained and kept in the thana.
Dhillon said the police had gone to look for one Tullu Khan of Dariyapur locality, who is wanted in a murder case and had been evading for nearly 25 years.
The SSP further said Asfar, along with others will be sent to the jail on Saturday.
