Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathan is about to release. There are a lot of expectations attached to the film, with many expecting the film to start the year with a bang at the box office. While all eyes are on the film’s performance, the film has also been boycotted. Meanwhile, noted theater owner Manoj Desai reflected on the film’s potential business impact and called for a boycott of the film.

“When Pathan’s songs and the trailer of the film came out, there was a lot of hue and cry. Many people were saying many things and there was a lot of objection on this. I was also a little scared. There are seven theaters here. This place is a heritage thing. I was forced to think things through. But then later, I heard on TV that CBFC has recommended some cuts and removed some objectionable material. It was a relief,” he said.
Manoj said, ‘I have an old relationship with Shahrukh Khan. He lives here in Bandra and comes to our theater for each of his releases. So let’s see what happens next. Some more terms and conditions are being discussed. They are also talking about increasing the rates, but we do not believe them. We have one of the lowest ticket rates in all over Maharashtra. Regarding the potential of the film marking King Khan’s comeback at the box office, Manoj insisted that people irrespective of their religion would watch it. He quipped, “It will work. It will definitely work. The film will be seen by Hindus and Muslims as well. It does not depend much on the trailer, but how the film performs and the number of people in the theatres. continues. In the same breath, Desai talked about the trend of boycotts affecting the film’s business, “I have told all our officers, we have to be very careful. There should be proper security checks at the main gate. We don’t want to harm our theatres, so we have to take some precautions.”
Pathan will be an essential part of Yash Raj Films’ espionage universe which already includes adrenaline-pumping films like Tiger Zinda Hai and War. Directed by Siddharth Anand, The Shahrukh Khan there will also be a starrer film Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in the lead roles. The film is scheduled to release on January 25.
