Guwahati: Ulfa (I) chief Paresh Baruah’s last closest associate, Jibon Moran, died at a private hospital here on Saturday night. Moran, 67, was undergoing treatment for kidney and liver-related ailments for the last one month.
Moran joined the outfit in 1984 and was relieved of his responsibilities and allowed to return home in April last year because of his deteriorating health. He was the finance secretary of the outfit. Moran, a resident of Uban village at Kakopathar in Assam’s Tinsukia district, was known to have supervised the transition of the members of the outfit from Bhutan to Myanmar after the Royal Bhutan Army launched an operation against them in 2003.
