Pankaj Tripathi on Ladakh’s first ‘moving cinema theater’ in Leh – Times of India

In an endeavor to bring world class digital cinema viewing experience to every nook and corner of India, a mobile digital movie theater company has become the highest altitude cinema theater in the world by setting up its inflatable theater in Leh (Ladakh).

Established at a height of 11,562 feet, the theater also becomes the first ever moving cinema theater Union Territory of Ladakh. Inflatable theater set up at NSD Maidan in Leh on Sunday Mr Thupstan Chewang, President, Ladakh Buddhist Association, and actor Pankaj Tripathi in attendance.

critically acclaimed short filmschool‘ (a film about the Changpa nomads of Ladakh) was directed by Stanzin Tankong at the theatre’s launch, which received an overwhelming response and locals were now excited to have a cinema theater in the UT. A special screening of the recently released film “Bell Bottom” for the Army and CISF will also be held later in the evening.

Keeping in view the current COVID protocol of utmost importance, the theater will currently have around 75 seats with proper spacing between the seats of the theater and dividers between the seats due to the need of social distancing at the time.

Sharing his thoughts on the same, actor Pankaj Tripathi said, “What a beautiful initiative. Cinema reaches out to people in the interior of this country. For someone like me who belongs to the film world, this film is a unique and different medium of exhibition – “a moving theatre”. It is absolutely incredible to have such a concept in a grand location like Leh. I am shooting in Leh and I have got to see such amazing talent here. Through Picturetime’s inflatable traveling theater, people here will not only get access to the latest movies, but it will also create amazing opportunities for the talented people of Ladakh.
