Former Prime Minister said that by filing a case against the opposition, the government is tarnishing the image of Pakistan.

In a series of tweets, former Pakistan Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan attacked the government for trying to crush the opposition and damage the country’s image.

“Dangerous ruling hooligans don’t seem to realize that they are damaging Pak’s image overseas with a fake FIR against a former PM for using the words “Dirty Harry” and “psychopath” and absurd allegations of treason ! They are making fun of Pakistan,” Imran Khan said in a series of tweets.

He also said that the government’s actions are preventing foreign investors from coming to Pakistan, which is having a negative impact on Pakistan’s economic development.

“Also, what message is being given to foreign investors when the government itself is not accepting the Supreme Court rulings? Investors want security of contracts and that means faith in the judicial system. What confidence can they have when the government itself ignores the Supreme Court order? This happens in Banana Republic,” Khan further said.

Khan said that “a part of London’s plan” is underway which will pave the way for the return of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif as he got bail and will then crush the opposition.

Referring to the arrest of the former federal minister, Khan further said, “The filing of 144th sedition case against me and the filing of fake cases against PTI leader Ali Amin Gandapur shows that the aim is to prevent us from holding elections.”

PPP convenes core committee meeting

The core committee of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) held a meeting on Friday, where it said it is ready to hold meetings with all stakeholders to resolve the current political crisis. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and former President Asif Ali Zardari jointly chaired the meeting, where they said the situation arose because the minority court’s decision took precedence over the majority court’s decision.

They were referring to additional notes by Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhel and Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah in the March 1 judgment, which said that elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces should be held within 90 days, claiming that this 4-3 was instead followed. A Supreme Court bench led by Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial delivered a 3-2 verdict.

PPP Secretary-General Nayyar Bukhari, speaking after the meeting, said that this stand was legally, morally and politically untenable and should be reviewed. The PPP said it is ready to talk to all stakeholders, including PTI, to resolve the current crisis.

The PPP, however, said that conflicting court decisions should be resolved immediately and the honor and dignity of the judiciary should not be hurt. It also urged that in the interest of free and fair elections, general elections to all the Legislative Assemblies should be held on the same day as provided in the Constitution.
