Hospitality technology platform OYO on Friday said it will add 500 new hotels over the next three months in the host cities of the upcoming Men’s Cricket World Cup in India to meet the projected increase in booking demand.

The new hotels will be strategically located near stadiums, making it easier for cricket fans from across the globe to watch their favorite teams play, OYO said in a statement. A company spokesperson said that whenever the dates of any major cricket tournament are announced, the demand for travel automatically increases.

“OYO will be adding 500 hotels across host cities over the next three months to meet the demand for the Cricket World Cup. We want to ensure that people who are traveling from far off places to watch their favorite teams are provided with comfortable and affordable accommodation. Hotel charges have already increased due to increased demand in host cities three months back, Oyo said, adding that the tournament period has also seen a significant increase in demand.
