Over 60 Hindus were killed, 1500 sent to jail during Muzaffarnagar riots: CM Yogi slams Akhilesh

New Delhi: Ahead of the assembly elections in the state, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday blamed the Samajwadi Party for the killing of Hindus during the Muzaffarnagar riots in 2013.

“More than 60 Hindus were killed in the Muzaffarnagar riots and more than 1500 Hindus were put behind bars… This is the identity of the Samajwadi Party. Their hats are painted with the blood of innocent Ram devotees,” he said. quoted Adityanath as saying.

Targeting the SP, Yogi said that the party has no development-oriented thinking.

“They (SP) do not have any development-oriented thinking… it is not on their agenda… when they were in power, there were riots everywhere… development was stalled… anarchy was at its peak,” he said. But today there is no such scenario there. There is no riot,” he said while addressing an election rally in Baghpat.

Taking a dig at the Samajwadi Party, Yogi said, the previous government built Haj House, while the Mansarovar Bhawan in Ghaziabad was built under the rule of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

The statement came in the light of Yogi’s visit to Ghaziabad on Saturday and he compared the work done by the SP government to that of the BJP.

“The previous government of Uttar Pradesh had built Haj House in Ghaziabad. The BJP government has constructed Kailash Mansarovar Bhawan in Ghaziabad with state-of-the-art facilities at a cost of Rs 94 crore. Respecting the faith, this building is a great place for devotees. The gift is there. The difference is obvious,” Mr Adityanath tweeted in Hindi.

During his door-to-door campaign in Ghaziabad, Yogi made similar remarks, saying, “Earlier, Haj House used to be built in Ghaziabad. Our government constructed Kailash Mansarovar Bhawan. Earlier the mafia used to harass the traders, but now there is no mafia. Can’t dare to grab. Property of any businessman, doctor or any poor person…”

In a veiled attack on SP chief Akhilesh Yadav on Friday, Yogi called him a supporter of Pakistan and a “worshipper of (Muhammad Ali) Jinnah”.

“They are worshipers of Jinnah, we are worshipers of Sardar Patel. Pakistan is dear to them, we will sacrifice our lives for Maa Bharati (Mother India),” Mr Adityanath said in a tweet in Hindi without naming names.

The state CM also listed works by his government to restart the Ramala sugar mill in the western region, the area of influence of late prime minister Chaudhary Charan Singh as well as beautification of a Shiva temple in Ghaziabad.

“Beautification of ancient Shiva temple in Surana village of Muradnagar area of Ghaziabad district at a cost of Rs 50 lakh, construction of road between Ganga canal Sondha bridge to Revda-Rewari village at a cost of Rs 22 crore and construction of bridge on Hindon under BJP government. During the river.
