Out Of This World: ICC ODI World Cup 2023 Trophy Sent To Space

In a spectacular start, cricket’s global governing body kicked off the World Cup trophy tour by launching the iconic silverware into the stratosphere 1,20,000 feet above Earth before a spectacular landing at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad.

This was achieved after the trophy was attached to a special stratospheric balloon, and 4k cameras captured some stunning shots of the trophy sitting at the edge of Earth’s atmosphere.

The 2023 edition of the Trophy Tour will be the biggest ever, giving fans the chance to connect with the silverware in different countries and cities around the world. Starting on June 27, the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup trophy will travel to 18 countries including Kuwait, Bahrain, Malaysia, America, Nigeria, Uganda, France, Italy, United States of America and host nation India, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has said in the press release.

Through innovative activities and events in various countries, the Trophy Tour will provide one million fans with the chance to have their own personal interaction with the silverware.

The Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium is all set to host the final of the ODI showpiece that the country is hosting later this year.

ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardyce said: “The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Trophy Tour marks an important milestone in the countdown to the biggest ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup ever.”

The prestigious silverware tour will meet heads of state, launch community initiatives and support cricket development programs in addition to visiting some of the most iconic destinations around the world.
