OTT producer Ashish Bhavsar denies rape allegations by model, remains in judicial custody – Times of India

OTT Producer Ashish Bhavsar has denied the allegations of rape leveled against him by a model in his complaint filed at goregaon Police Station in March

Now, the producer has released a statement which reads, “I deny the false allegations of rape leveled against me. This allegation and FIR filed against me is completely false and for extortion and common intention. As a counter to my previous FIR. Against the girl and her three accomplices they have implicated me in honey trap and using criminal force to falsely accused me of rape, #metoo attack on social media and threatened to attack my own car. I went to the extent of kidnapping me and took hefty amount and was demanding more. When I filed an FIR against them, this false FIR of rape was registered as an intention to protect myself This is nothing but misuse of IPC 376 as has been seen in recent times. I have full faith in the legal system of my country and I am sure that ultimately truth and my innocence will prevail.”

Meanwhile, an FIR has been registered against the manufacturer under sections 376 and 506(2) Indian Penal Code.

Police said that the victim alleged that Ashish raped her on the pretext of casting her in the film. The complaint also states that the producer threatened to kill the model if she told anyone.

A 42-year-old web series producer has been arrested for allegedly raping a female model in Mumbai.

According to the police statement, on the basis of the complaint of the woman, an FIR was lodged against the accused Ashish Bhavsar at the Goregaon police station in March this year.

Ashish appeared in the court where the court sent him to police custody till September 9.
