Oscars 2022: This picture captures Hollywood’s reaction to Will Smith slapping Chris Rock

The center of attraction at Hollywood’s biggest awards night was a huge uncomfortable moment between Will Smith and Chris Rock. When Rock appeared on stage to present the award for Best Documentary Feature, he mocked Smith’s wife and actor Jada Pinkett Smith being in GI Jane because of the presence. The remarks enraged Smith, who stormed onto the stage and slapped The Rock with a forceful slap. While The Rock tried not to lose his temper, Smith returned to his seat and was caught shouting, “Keep my wife’s name out of your f*****g mouth.”

However, later receiving the Best Actor award, Will Smith apologized to the Academy and its nominees for his behavior.

The dramatic moment eclipsed the biggest awards night ever and resulted in memes and posts. Several posts have been shared online since the incident. Now, journalist Derek Blasberg shared a photo from the Vanity Fair Oscars dinner, in which some of the big names sitting at the roundtable are busy Googling their phones. What are they googling? The journalist responded in the caption, writing: “Meanwhile, at my table at the Vanity Fair Oscars Dinner is all these people Will Smith said to Chris Rock.”

At the table were Jason Bateman, Sarah Paulson, Taika Waititi, JJ Abrams, Sienna Millers and many others. From the picture, it seems that Sara came to know about the Will Smith slap incident while Waititi is giving her amusing response to the photographer.

Meanwhile, the 94th Academy Awards were held at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles and hosted by the trio – Regina Hall, Amy Schumer and Wanda Sykes. CODA emerged as the big winner of the night as it was awarded the Best Picture award. Notably, the film was nominated in three categories, and it won all three. Along with Best Picture, CODA won Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor for Troy Kotsur.
