Opposition damaged the dignity of Parliament, BJP said after the uproar in Lok Sabha

The BJP on Tuesday hit out at opposition parties for creating ruckus in the Lok Sabha and throwing papers on the chair, saying they have brought shame to the world’s largest democracy and damaged the dignity of Parliament. The Lok Sabha was adjourned several times on Wednesday amid protests by opposition members over the Pegasus espionage controversy and farmers’ issue. An uncontrolled scene was witnessed in the House as more Left members of Congress threw paper and torn placards on chairs and Treasury benches. A placard thrown by an MP fell in the press gallery.

Opposition MPs flocked to the Well of the House, raising slogans and placards against the government on Pegasus and farmers’ issues. “There is a way to protest. But today the opposition has damaged the dignity and dignity of our temple of democracy,” Union Minister Anurag Thakur told reporters outside the Parliament House.

He further said that opposition lawmakers have “shamed the world’s largest democracy with their reprehensible actions”. Accusing the opposition of running away from the debate, the BJP leader sought to know why the opposition does not want the issues to be discussed in Parliament.

The House has seen repeated disruptions and adjournments since the beginning of the session.
