Only 28 Local Terrorists Active In Kashmir: ADGP Vijay Kumar

Vijay Kumar, ADGP, Kashmir has said that now only 28 local terrorists are active in the Kashmir Valley. He said that those who have given shelter or support to terrorists in the past will be dealt with as per law.

Kumar was speaking on the sidelines of the All India Women’s Football Cricket Tournament. “There is a provision in the law that if there is an encounter in a house or it is used to shelter terrorists, we would normally make arrests but now we confiscate the property,” he said.

On the security of Amarnath Yatra, he said, ‘We will provide foolproof security. We will take the help of technology and I hope that by the time the Amarnath Yatra starts, the number of terrorists will come down further. I am happy to share with you that the lowest number of terrorists are currently active in the history of Jammu and Kashmir. The number has been reduced to 28.”

In the last few months, the investigating agencies have taken major action against terrorists and terrorist sympathizers. In the last few months, organizations like NIA, SIA and others have attached assets of more than 300 terrorists and their supporters.

On the security of the upcoming G20 meeting in Kashmir, which is scheduled in May, JK Police, CAPF and Army are preparing for the security.
