Omicron: Ban on New Year’s celebration in Mumbai, Night curfew in five states including UP-Haryana

In view of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus, the Maharashtra government has announced the Kovid Guidelines. According to this, no more than five people will be allowed to gather in public places in the state from 9 pm to 6 am. Apart from this, if marriage ceremonies are being held in closed places, then 100 more people will not be allowed to gather in open places. On the other hand, in Mumbai, the BMC has banned programs to be organized in any closed or open place to celebrate the new year.

Apart from this, the Uddhav government has also ordered gyms, spas, hotels, theaters and cinema halls to be operated with 50 percent capacity. All operators will have to inform the government in advance about their full capacity and operating at 50 percent capacity. According to the guidelines, in other social, political, religious events, not more than 100 people will be able to gather in closed spaces and 250 (or 25 percent of the capacity of the place) in open spaces.

Where was the night curfew imposed?

1. Madhya Pradesh

Corona cases are increasing continuously in Madhya Pradesh. Due to this, CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan has implemented night curfew. Night curfew will be in place in all the cities of the state from 11 pm to 5 am. Apart from this, people above 18 years who have not got both doses of vaccine will not get entry in cinema halls, multiplexes, theatres, gyms, coaching classes, swimming pools, clubs, stadiums. Both the doses have been made mandatory for government employees. He also has to come on duty. Along with this, the entry of devotees in Bhasmarti in Mahakaleshwar temple has also been stopped.

2. Haryana

Night curfew will be implemented in Haryana from 12 noon on 25th December. Night curfew will be effective from 11 pm to 5 am. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal said that in view of the possibility of increasing cases of Omicron in the state, for the safety of the people, gathering of more than 200 people should be allowed in public places and other programs.

Make both the doses of vaccination mandatory for entry in institutions related to the public sector. The Chief Minister was presiding over the Covid review meeting on Friday. He said that to stop the growing influence of Omicron, it is necessary that people should be made more aware. More attention should be paid to vaccination.

3. Gujarat

In view of the present corona situation, night curfew will be applicable from 11 pm to 5 am in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, Gandhinagar and Junagadh from 25 December. The Gujarat Chief Minister’s Office gave this information on Friday. Restaurants can remain open with 75% of the population till midnight under the current night curfew restrictions. Home delivery and take-away services are also allowed till midnight.

Apart from this, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Odisha have imposed restrictions in view of Christmas and New Year. The purpose of these restrictions is to stop the crowd gathering for the celebration.

4. Uttar Pradesh

Night curfew has returned in the state. In view of the increasing cases of corona across the country and the threat of new variant Omicron, the Yogi government has decided to bring night curfew from 11 pm to 5 am throughout the week from Saturday. Not only this, only a maximum of 200 people will be allowed to attend weddings and other public events with the Kovid protocol. The organizer will have to inform the local administration about this. In this regard, Chief Secretary Rajendra Kumar Tiwari issued the mandate late on Friday evening.

5. Rajasthan

Night curfew is in force since the second wave of corona in the state. After the cases were reduced, some concessions were given in them, but in view of the threat of Omicron, the government has again come into alert mode.
