Ola Electrical can be in talks with a number of world suppliers to construct a battery cell manufacturing plant in India with a capability of as much as 50 gigawatt hours

Ola Electrical is investing USD 500 million (about Rs 4,000 crore) in a cell analysis and improvement facility in Bengaluru, firm founder and CEO Bhavish Aggarwal stated on Monday. In a tweet, Aggarwal said: “Sharing one thing I’m personally very captivated with! Constructing a state-of-the-art Battery Innovation Middle (BIC) in Bangalore”.

BIC can be one of many world’s largest, most superior cell R&D services, he added. “500+ engineers & PhDs, $500mn funding. Will likely be up & operating subsequent month!” Aggarwal stated.

SoftBank Group-backed Ola Electrical can be in talks with a number of world suppliers to construct a battery cell manufacturing plant in India with a capability of as much as 50 gigawatt hours. As a part of its broader electrification push, the agency plans to put money into corporations with superior cell and battery know-how, alongside the 50 Gwh battery plant.
