Prashanta Kumar Jagdev has been suspended from Biju Janata Dal party.

Bhubaneswar (Odisha):

Biju Janta Dal (BJD) has suspended its Chilika MLA Prashanta Kumar Jagdev from the party for allegedly beating up a Bharatiya Janata Party leader.

“The MLA of Chilka Vidhan Sabha Prashant Kumar Jagdev is hereby suspended from the Biju Janata Dal with immediate effect,” said an official statement signed by Odisha Chief Minister and BJD President Naveen Patnaik.

Shri Patnaik has also removed Shri Jagdev from the post of Chairman of Khordha District Planning Committee.

Earlier in the day, Mr Jagdev had allegedly thrashed Balugaon Nagar BJP president Niranjan Sethi in public glare, while Mr Sethi had gone to the Notified Area Council (NAC) office to inquire about some social welfare programmes.

Later, BJP workers staged a sit-in in front of the Balugaon police station demanding the arrest of the BJD MLA.
