This is the first time in the Naveen Patnaik government that the entire cabinet, including the Speaker, has resigned.

The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) completed three years of its term on May 29. Since then, speculations of a cabinet reshuffle started. According to official sources, the Chief Minister wants to reshuffle his cabinet. After which this decision was taken.

Focus may be on 2024 elections
It is believed that the Patnaik government has taken such a decision to strengthen the party before the Lok Sabha elections to be held in 2024. Assembly elections are going to be held in the state only in 2024, so Naveen Patnaik wants to give place to young and senior people in the cabinet under a new strategy.
