Janhit Mein Jaari sequel has been greenlit

Nushrat Bharucha-starrer ‘Janhit Mein Jari’, the story of a young girl selling condoms, is going to have a sequel with another interesting topic released in the public interest as planned by the makers of the film, reveals sources . Unlike other socially relevant films, this one was titled by a female star, Nushrat Bharucha. A sequel titled by only one female star is on the cards.

The film was made on a budget of Rs 20 crore including worldwide print and advertising costs, it has already collected Rs 23 crore in its satellite, digital and music rights. Additionally, it received a subsidy of Rs 2 crore from the Madhya Pradesh government and around Rs 4 crore at the box office.

According to sources, a South production house has approached Bhanushali Studio Ltd for the rights of the Tamil, Telugu and Punjabi remake of ‘Janhit Mein Zari’, which has an A-list female star in each language. The film generated much-needed conversation around the taboo topic and it will be interesting to see how it is adapted for different regional audiences!

A Bhanushali Studios Limited and Think Ink Picturez production in association with Shree Raghav Entertainment LLP, produced by Vinod Bhanushali, Kamlesh Bhanushali, Vishal Gurnani, Raaj Shaandilyaa, Vimal Lahoti, Shradha Chandavarkar, Bunty Raghav, Rajesh Raghav and Mukesh Gupta, co-produced by Juhi Parekh Mehta, a Zee Studios release, ‘Janhit Mein Jaari’ released worldwide in cinemas on June 10.

Interestingly, it is the third film of lead actress Nusrat to have a sequel, released in public interest. Earlier, Pyaar Ka Punchnama (2011) came out with a sequel in 2015. His 2021 release, the horror film Chhori has also got a sequel. Chhori is a remake of Marathi horror film Lapachapi.
