NTA Officials Say Those Who Missed CUET Will Get Another Chance Due To Change Of Exam Center

According to the National Testing Agency (NTA) officials, candidates of Common University Entrance Test-UG who could not appear for the crucial exam on the first day due to change of centers will get another chance in the second phase in August. The exams at two centers in West Bengal’s New Jalpaiguri and Punjab’s Pathankot were canceled due to technical issues.

“Over 190 candidates who appeared at both the centers will now be allowed to appear in the second phase in August. At other centres, candidates who could not appear due to change in examination centres, will also get another chance,” said a senior NTA official. The first edition of Common University Entrance Test (CUET)-UG began on Friday in over 510 cities India and abroad.

The exam is being conducted in two phases. The first phase will be held in July and the second phase in August. Candidates who have opted for Physics, Chemistry or Biology have been assigned to Phase 2 of the CUET exam, given that NEET (UG) – 2022 will be held on July 17. The exam for the first slot began at 9 am on Friday.

With 14.9 lakh registrations, CUET, the common gateway for undergraduate admissions to all central universities, is now the second largest entrance exam in the country, surpassing JEE-Main’s average registration of nine lakh. NEET-UG is the biggest entrance exam in India, with an average of 18 lakh registrations. Ahead of the exam, many candidates have raised concerns over too many exams in less time, delay in admit card and not being given the choice of centre.

The University Grants Commission (UGC), however, has claimed that 98% of the students have been allotted a center of their choice. Unlike percentile system, CUET score will be released in percentile, i.e. it will indicate the position of a candidate as compared to other candidates.

A total of 44 Central Universities, 12 State Universities, 11 Deemed Universities and 19 Private Universities have applied to participate in the first edition of CUET for UG admission in the 2022-23 academic session.
