The Punjabi singer’s parents called off their protest after assurance from minister Kuldeep Dhaliwal that CM Bhagwant Mann would meet them after March 20.
The parents of Punjabi singer and Congress leader Sidhu Moose Wala protested outside the Punjab Assembly on Tuesday, demanding justice and a detailed probe into the murder of their son. Musewala’s parents along with some Congress leaders alleged slow investigation into his murder case.
Sidhu Moose Wala’s father Balkaur Singh and mother Charan Kaur protested during the budget session. Holding placards, Singh and his wife Charan Kaur were sitting outside the state assembly.
Congress leader Sukhjinder Randhawa was also present. Some of the demands raised include the inclusion of Baltej Pannu, media advisor to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, in the FIR for the singer’s murder. He sought imposition of Section 120-B against Pannu for leaking information about downgrading of Sidhu’s security.
Musewala was shot dead on May 29 last year while he was traveling in a jeep in Punjab’s Mansa along with his friend and cousin. He was on his way to ‘Jawahar’ village when his vehicle was attacked and six shooters opened fire on him.
Her father Balkaur Singh on Tuesday alleged that despite naming five prime suspects, the police are yet to arrest them. He alleged that the killing of the two accused in Goindwal jail was part of a conspiracy to destroy evidence.
“In the last 10 months, I approached the police and administration several times and was assured. But the evidence of my child’s murder is being swept under the carpet. Nothing is going in my favour,” said Balkaur Singh.
Singh also referred to the killing of Moosewala murder accused Mandeep Singh alias Toofan and Manmohan Singh alias Mohana during a clash between inmates at Goindwal Sahib Jail in Punjab last month.
When asked whether the ongoing investigation is being compromised, Musewala’s father said, “Not only is it being affected, efforts are on to close the case. What is the present status of the investigation? He said , “A celebrity has been murdered which has angered the whole world, but the Indian government is not listening.”
Police investigation has so far revealed that gangster Lawrence Bishnoi was behind the singer’s murder. However, Musewala’s parents have alleged that those arrested in the case were petty hooligans and the real culprits have not been arrested.
However, the Punjabi singer’s parents called off the dharna after minister Kuldeep Dhaliwal assured them that CM Bhagwant Mann would meet them after March 20. CLP leader Pratap Bajwa said the CM, who was sitting a few yards away in the assembly, did not meet him on Tuesday. ,
