In an interview, Amit Shah justified the move to delete select comments made by opposition leaders and alleged that the deletion of words is done after careful consideration of all necessary rules.

Amid strong criticism of eviction of MPs from opposition parties in both Houses of Parliament, Home Minister Amit Shah responded and said that this is not the first time that remarks of MPs have been eviction.

“This is not the first time that someone’s remarks made in Parliament have been deleted. The history of parliamentary proceedings clearly shows this. Parliament is a place for discussions under rules using parliamentary language.”

Frequent disruptions in Parliament

Shah hit out at the opposition for frequent disruptions and sloganeering, especially during Prime Minister Modi’s speech in the Rajya Sabha on the motion of thanks on the President’s address.

“The whole country listens to the Prime Minister. Look on social media platforms and you will see comments on PM’s speech. Some parties take a political stand and refuse to listen to the speech of the Prime Minister. People are watching what is happening in the House.

Contrary to the claim of opposition parties, Amit Shah said that the Modi government is ready to sit and discuss with all parties. “We have no problem in sitting with anyone, but the initiative needs to be taken by everyone,” Shah said.

Many in the opposition continued to criticize the government for trying to silence them and alleged that there was no scope for dialogue and discussion.

Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge said on Monday that there is nothing parliamentary about Rahul Gandhi During his speech in Parliament, he spoke about his relationship with billionaire Gautam Adani and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

According to sources in the Lok Sabha secretariat, the Congress leader has sought a reply to the breach of privilege notice for making ‘misleading, defamatory, unparliamentary and objectionable statements’ during the discussion on the President’s address in the Lok Sabha on February 7.

Responding to a breach of privilege notice sent by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey to a Congress MP, Kharge said, “Whatever Rahul Gandhi said in Parliament was already in the public domain and there is nothing unparliamentary in it.” So he will reply to the notice accordingly.”
