Nandigram movement leader Nishikant Mandal is the conspirator in the murder of Shuvendu Adhikari. Trinamool leader Abu Tahir made such a sensational demand. He made this demand at the memorial meeting of another Nandigram movement leader Badal Das on Saturday. Then Madhusudan Mandal, one of the accused in the murder of Nishikant Mandal, sat next to Abu Tahir.
On the evening of 22 September 2009, Nishikant Mandal, the head of the Sonachura gram panchayat and leader of the land conservation movement, was murdered. Then the grassroots people pointed fingers at the CPI(M). However, the police arrested Telugu leaders Deepak Deepak and Madhusudan Mandal. Twelve years after that incident, on Saturday, Nandigram No. 1 Panchayat Samiti president Abu Taher claimed that Shuvendu was the conspirator in the murder of Adhikari Nishikant Babu. “It was Shuvendu Adhikari who had hatched a conspiracy to kill Nishikant Mandal,” he said.
The Trinamool has started leveling various allegations against Shuvendu Adhikari since he joined the BJP in December last. Sometimes he has been accused of three thefts and sometimes corruption in recruitment.
Commenting on Abu Tahir’s remark, Nishikant Babu’s son Satjit Mandal said, ‘Who benefits from saying these things after twelve years? Why is the Trinamool leader blaming Shuvendu Adhikari in favor of his father’s murder accused?’
