Noida: How will the Twin Towers be demolished? Demolition plan will be presented today Noida News – Times of India

Noida: Two engineering firms selected by developer to bring down Emerald Court Twin Towers is likely to share its detailed plan regarding the demolition exercise in the meeting with Noida Authority on Thursday.
The meeting coincides with the hearing of the Twin Towers demolition case in the Supreme Court on Thursday. Noida Authority & Developer, supertech, will tell the court the status of the demolition exercise and explain the delay in executing it. On August 31, the top court had ordered that the two towers – Apex and Cayenne – be brought down in three months, saying they were illegally built. Although the deadline expired on November 30, the demolition plan has yet to be presented to the court.
Sources said that the virtual meeting will start at 11 am on Thursday. One of the two engineering firms will present the method they will apply to bring down the buildings and also specify the time period required for the entire exercise. The other company, though ready with its plan, will make a presentation at the second meeting.
“Supertech has sent its representation on the matter. Our officers are probing it. We will ask engineering companies to tell us about their plan and provide us with a timeline. We will be able to share more details only after seeing their presentations,” said Ritu Maheshwari, chief executive officer of the authority.
Sources said the agencies are exploring the idea of using explosives for both the demolition and may seek another six months for the entire exercise, including removal of debris from the site. Sources said a case study by one of the companies will reveal how a 108-metre-tall building in South Africa was brought down safely through the blast, although it had a clearance of 7.8 meters from the nearest structure. In the case of Emerald Court, the nearest residential building – Aster is 2 – 9 meters away.
The authority will ask the members of the residents’ welfare association Emerald Court To attend Thursday’s meeting. Senior officials of the fire department will also give their opinion. “We will invite all the stakeholders. They should be aware of the action plan from day one. The participation of RWA members is necessary at this stage as they have raised many questions and concerns,” an authority official said earlier in the day.
Experts from the Central Building and Research Institute (CBRI) will look into the plans that will be submitted by the two engineering firms in the meeting. The Supreme Court had asked the authority to keep the CBRI in the loop to ensure that the demolition takes place in a safe manner.
Two companies – Genesis Engineering and Edifice Engineering – were recommended for demolition by Supertech last month, which sought more time to prepare a detailed plan. On Tuesday, the developer said that the companies were ready with their presentations.
A spokesperson of Supertech Ltd said, “We have conveyed to the authority that both the companies are ready with their plans and they can be discussed in detail with all the stakeholders.”
UBS Teotia, President, Supertech Emerald Court RWA, said, “We have been informed about the meeting on Thursday morning. Three of our members will attend the session.”
