No proposal to extend last date for filing ITR: Government
The Center on Friday said that the last date for filing Income Tax Return (ITR) will not be extended. There is no proposal to extend the date for filing ITR, Revenue Secretary Tarun Bajaj told reporters in Delhi. Today (31st December) is the last date to file ITR.
According to Tarun Bajaj, 5.62 crore ITRs have been filed till Friday. More than 20 lakh returns have been filed today.
“A total of three lakh ITRs have been filed in the last hour. 60 lakh more returns have been filed this year,” he said.
“There is no proposal to extend the deadline for filing income tax returns, the date 31 December 2021 remains the official deadline,” the revenue secretary said.
