Actress and popular television personality Simi Garewal took to Twitter late Sunday night to say that she has known Imran Khan for the last 40 years and he is not corrupt. Garewal’s tweet came soon after Imran Khan was removed from office through a no-confidence motion, becoming the first prime minister in the country’s history to be deported after losing the confidence of the House.

Simi Garewal said through Twitter that Imran Khan may have more flaws, but corruption is not one of them.

“#ImranKhanPrimeMinister getting out teaches: 1. A united opposition can sack a popular Prime Minister. 2 Politics is no place for idealists. (I have known Imran for 40 years and idealism is at his core). They may have other failures – but corruption is not one of them,” she wrote on social media.

This was not the first time that SIMI had tweeted about Imran Khan. Back in 2018, when Imran Khan was elected Prime Minister of Pakistan, Garewal posted a controversial tweet about his political leadership and death.

However, she later retracted the tweet after the netizens got angry.

Simi Garewal had tweeted on Imran Khan earlier as well.

“Congratulations @ImranKhanPTI. You worked tirelessly for this day. And the new difficult journey has just begun. Wishing you every success..make those dreams come true. You can do this. And stay safe,” she later tweeted.

Even when Khan was on India tour in 2016 Simi Garewal shared a picture with him and captioned it, “Meeting an old friend (and Pakistan’s PM-in-waiting?) in Delhi. I liked it. Imran Khan!”
