No end to Punjab potboiler, says former state Congress chief Sunil Jakhar as party ‘forgot him’

The Punjab potboiler is still simmering even after Congress leaders Capt Amarinder Singh and Navjot Singhu Sidhu made peace with each other at the official promotion ceremony.

Former Punjab Congress chief Sunil Jakhar has now expressed displeasure over his removal from the post of state unit president, saying that the party has forgotten him, news agency ANI reported.

In a direct attack on the Congress high command’s decision to appoint Sidhu, Jakhar said the party has forgotten the person who was trying to resolve the differences between the Captain and Sidhu.

Jakhar’s open complaint comes a day after Amarinder and Sidhu apparently buried their edge in the aftermath of the long-standing cold war, even as the ‘CM question’ was hung up by the party high command. . The infighting within the Congress comes even as assembly elections are due in Punjab early next year.

Backing Amarinder, Jakhar said the Punjab chief minister handled the protests against agricultural laws “superbly” by sending them to Delhi’s borders.
