‘New year, same inspiration’: Virat Kohli sweats it out in nets ahead of second Test – see pics

Team India has reached Wanderers to play the second Test match of the ongoing series against South Africa. The site has been a fort for visitors away from home as they have an impeccable record here. India has not lost a single test match in Johannesburg. Of the five matches played here, the visitors have won two games – by 123 runs in 2006 and 63 in 2018 – while the remaining three ended in draws.

The Virat Kohli-led side is just one win away from creating history on South African soil. If they manage to beat the Proteas in the second Test, it will be their first series win at Rainbow Nation.

Keeping this in mind, the visiting team is working hard to maintain their unbeaten run in Johannesburg. Ahead of the much-awaited match, skipper Kohli took to the nets on Sunday with ‘the same inspiration’.

“New year, same inspiration,” Kohli shared some of his pictures from the training session.

Meanwhile, head coach Rahul Dravid backed Kohli to give some ‘big runs’ in the Johannesburg Test. The latter ended the year 2021 without scoring a century in international cricket as he was dismissed for 18 in the second innings of the first Test against South Africa last week.

“It has not been difficult to keep morale high (in South Africa) as it is led by the captain himself. On the eve of the second Test, Dravid said, “Virat Kohli has been fantastic in the last 20 days, the way he has trained, he has practiced.
