Thiruvananthapuram: Industries Minister P Rajeev Said in the assembly that the state government is going to bring a resolution soon land policy To provide land for companies showing interest in setting up units in Industrial Park owned by the government.
The policy is in its final shape and is being introduced to simplify procedures like transfer of ownership to industrial unit management. “At present, as per the procedures, the transfer of ownership will take at least 20 years. With the new policy it will be simplified,” he said.
Rajiv said that it has been decided to set up industrial estates in all the districts, for which the process of identification of land has started. The present policy was to identify for setting up industrial parks on 25 acres in villages and 15 acres in urban areas. Since it is not possible to acquire so much land from both rural and urban areas, it has been decided to start industrial estates in very few areas.
The government will start an industrial park in the state only after conducting a feasibility study.
The minister also said that there are many old laws related to the industrial sector which will either have to be abolished or amended. A bill for this is under consideration in the current session of the Legislative Assembly.
