Streaming giant Netflix started rolling out mobile games for Android users earlier this month. While Netflix says it will also bring a iOS version of the service, it will not be easy. As Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman pointed out, Apple’s App Store policies will stop Netflix By offering these games from within your app. Apple blocks third-party apps from serving as the hub for games or the Mini App Store. This policy has become a big point of contention with cloud gaming services like Google Stadia, Nvidia GeForce Now and Microsoft’s xCloud. These services were to be launched through web browsers on Apple devices.

According to Bloomberg’s latest Power On newsletter, Netflix Apple’s rules would have to be resolved by making its games available through the App Store. This means that games will not be downloadable or playable from the Netflix app. The service currently works this way on Android. The games are neatly packaged in a dedicated tab on the Netflix app, but will be downloaded separately from the Google Play Store. Gurman also predicts that Netflix will eventually bring its game to the cloud. “Apple will need to change its rules or give an exemption to Netflix,” Gurman said in his newsletter.

Netflix forayed into gaming earlier this month when the company launched five new Android games including Stranger Things: 1984, Stranger Things 3: The Game, Shooting Hoop, Card Blast and Teeter Up.
