4 CRPF jawans martyred, 3 injured in firing by colleague in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma

New Delhi: Four CRPF personnel were killed and three were injured when a jawan opened fire on his comrades in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma. According to a PTI report, the jawan shot him at a paramilitary force camp in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on Monday.

Inspector General of Police (Bastar Range) Sundarraj P said the incident took place at around 3.45 am at the camp of the 50th Battalion of CRPF in Lingampalli village of the district, about 400 km from state capital Raipur.

According to an official statement, “In a case of fraternity, the jawan, identified as Ritesh Ranjan opened fire on fellow soldiers at C/50 Linglapally under PS Maraiguda at around 3:45 am.”

According to preliminary information, a jawan opened fire on his comrades with his service weapon AK-47 rifle, the official said.

He said the jawan was immediately apprehended and is being questioned.

The jawans who were injured in the fraternity incident were taken to the nearest hospital – Area Hospital Bhadrachalem (Telangana) for treatment.
