Neha Sharma sparked speculations that she might be contesting in the Lok Sabha elections this year when she was spotted in a political road show.

Neha Sharma participated in a Lok Sabha election road show in Bihar on Monday, sparking speculations of her possible political career. In a video she shared on Instagram, Neha was seen travelling through different districts of Bihar. These include Bhagalpur, Banka, Kishanganj, Katihar and Purnia. The actress was seen wearing a traditional salwar kameez and urging the public to vote. She was welcomed by a massive crowd in Pirpainti and Kahalgaon.

The video had everyone wondering if Neha has followed Kangana Ranaut’s footsteps into politics. However, multiple reports, including a report by Aaj Tak, revealed Neha is not taking the political route but was showing her support to her father, Ajit Sharma, who is contesting in the Lok Sabha election. It is reported that Ajit is a Lok Sabha election candidate from Bhagalpur, Bihar.

Neha shared glimpses of the road show on her social media account and wrote, “They say when someone gives you a place in their heart , you live there forever .My heart is full from all the love and support you have given me.Thank you for the warm welcome Pirpainti and kahalgaon.Aapka pyar sar ankhon par.#Eternally grateful ❤️”

Although Neha is not contesting this time, Ajit confirmed he had offered Neha to follow his lead into politics. India Today reported Ajit spoke with a few reporters earlier this month and said that he urged Neha to join politics but her current work doesn’t allow her to explore a career in the political space yet.

“The party (Congress) wanted my daughter, Neha Sharma, a Bollywood star, to contest in the Lok Sabha elections. I talked to her (about the same), but she remains very busy with various events and shooting,” he said. “She said ‘Papa, I cannot fight this time. Had you or the party told me five to six months before, I would definitely have contested’,” Ajit added.
