NEET aspirant released from prison in Kota

Police here rescued a 22-year-old girl student who was allegedly held captive in her hostel room for a week by a youth. Police said on Thursday that the girl, hailing from Bihar’s Champaran district, was preparing for the NEET exam at a coaching institute here. A special team of cyber experts in collaboration with Bihar Police rescued the girl.

SP Kesar Singh Shekhawat said that they have also arrested 22-year-old Ankur Singh, a resident of Pratapgarh district of Uttar Pradesh. The girl’s father had lodged a complaint with the Bihar Police that she had been taken prisoner and the accused demanded Rs 40 lakh for her release.

Police said that the accused had earlier prepared for NEET at the coaching institute where the victim was studying and the two knew each other. The youth is currently pursuing journalism course.
