New Delhi: Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu On Monday, two of his advisors were summoned to his residence in Patiala, after his remarks triggered a controversy. Apart from this, the state party in-charge Harish Rawat Indicated that action would be taken against two consultants – Malvinder Singh Malik and Dr. Pyare Lal Garg – who has allegedly made controversial remarks about J&K, Pakistan and the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi if they prove to be correct.
Garg had questioned the Chief Minister of Punjab Amarinder SinghCriticized Pakistan while Mali made controversial remarks on Kashmir. Mali also posted an objectionable poster of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on social media.
The two advisers were slammed by several Congress leaders, including Amarinder Singh, who said their comments were “totally wrong and antithetical” to the declared position of India and the Congress on Pakistan and Kashmir.
earlier in the day, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Daljit Singh Cheema also took a dig at Sidhu, saying that the PPCC chief himself was friendly to the Pakistan Prime Minister and the Army Chief, so his advisors were just following suit.
On the other hand, former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat said in Dehradun that information will be collected on the alleged statements of both the advisors.
He told media persons, “The person about whom the statement has been made is not a member of our party. Nevertheless, if such statements have been made – it is still doubtful – we will definitely act on it.” ”
According to him, the statements could have been twisted for political gains as the assembly elections were due in less than a year.
“I had sought information. Sidhu ji and some others say that the statements were distorted. There is a possibility that political gains are being made at the time of elections,” he said.
Rawat further said, “I would like to clarify on behalf of the party that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India. No one has the right to doubt that position, let alone issue a statement.”
On posting a controversial sketch of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by an advisor Malvinder Singh Mali, the party’s state in-charge said the party would condemn everything that insults her.
He said, “She was one of the most popular leaders. She was like a mother to us. If anything derogatory is said about her, we will condemn it. If proved while collecting information, then action will be taken.” Will go.”
