Speaking to the media, Additional Commissioner of Mumbai Municipal Corporation, Suresh Kakani, made it clear that at present there is no plan to implement the ban on common passengers for traveling in Mumbai suburban local trains. With this answer given by the BMC officer, the doubts that were in the minds of the common passengers about the Mumbai local service, which is currently considered as the lifeline of Mumbai, have been cleared.

Suresh Kakani said that, ‘The number of Kovid 19 infected in the city and the corona positivity rate is increasing rapidly day by day. This is certainly a matter of concern. It is also true that the Mumbai Municipal Corporation is implementing preventive measures and plans to deal with it. But at present, there is no restriction on any kind of restriction on common passengers for traveling in Mumbai local train service. At the same time, BMC Additional Commissioner assured that BMC is fully capable, capable and ready to deal with the possible Corona and Omicron crisis.

Further, the BMC official said that if needed, the Maharashtra government will take a decision in this regard in consultation with the Kovid 19 Task Force. He also said that at present 90 percent of the corona infected patients are not showing any symptoms. Only 4 to 5 percent of the patients are facing the danger of being admitted to the hospitals for treatment. That is, the number of seriously infected patients is negligible at present. There are 30 thousand 500 beds available under the jurisdiction of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation. In these, treatment of patients is started on three and a half thousand beds. Apart from this, sufficient amount of oxygen is available with the Municipal Corporation. There is also no shortage of medicines and ventilators. Therefore, BMC is fully prepared to deal with any possible threat.
