National Simplicity Day 2021: Pictures, messages and inspirational quotes to share by Henry David Thoreau

National Simplicity Day is observed on 12 July in memory of the author, poet and philosopher Henry David Thoreau. Thoreau, in his book “Walden” (1854) and other publications, offered ways for individuals to tap within themselves and be happier through less hectic lifestyles. He urged people to live simply by getting rid of unnecessary assets.

National Simplicity Day originated from the desire to break free from the complexity of the world and enable us to be simple. The day focuses on detaching from technology and unnecessary stress to embrace life as it is, and not to complicate things.

Following are quotes from Henry David Thoreau that will help reduce your stress and calm you down:

“I went into the woods because I wanted to live consciously, to face only the essential facts of life, and to see if I could not learn what to teach it, and no, when I came to die, Turns out I didn’t live.”
