NS Afghanistan Cricket The Board (ACB) on Monday announced that it has appointed Naseeb Khan as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Khan will replace Hamid Shinwari, who was appointed to the post in April 2021.

“Naseeb Khan, has been introduced as the new CEO of the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) by the Chairman of the Board, Mr @AzizullahFazli. He has a master’s degree and has knowledge of cricket as well.”

“We are glad that someone with a good understanding of cricket has joined us. He has been appointed as the chief executive after consultation with the board,” the board was quoted as saying by Pazvok news, citing ACB chairman Azizullah Fazli.

The report also said that Khan had promised all the necessary facilities for the players to prepare ahead of the Men’s T20 World Cup in Oman and the UAE in October and November. It also said that Shinwari was told by Taliban member Anas Haqqani that he was no longer chief executive.

“I asked for a formal letter and the reason behind my eviction but nothing was provided to me regarding them,” Shinwari said.

Afghanistan are placed in Group 2 in the Men’s T20 World Cup along with New Zealand, 2007 champions India, 2009 champions Pakistan and the two so far known qualifiers of Round 1. Their campaign will begin on October 25 against a qualifier team in Sharjah.
