‘Narendra Modi intercepted every Indian’s phone’: Rahul Gandhi alleges in Pegasus Row

New Delhi: Hitting out at the Modi government over the Pegasus controversy, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday accused the Center of intercepting every Indian’s phone.

The former Congress president demanded a discussion on the issue in the ongoing monsoon session of Parliament.

Talking to media persons, Rahul Gandhi accused the central government of not allowing the Pegasus issue to be discussed in Parliament during the ongoing monsoon session.

Earlier today, opposition leaders joined farmers at Jantar Mantar to protest the debate on agricultural laws.

“Today all the opposition parties have gathered here (Jantar Mantar) to extend their support against ‘Kala Kanoon’ (agriculture laws). Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, Ambika Soni, Gaurav Gogoi; Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut, RJD’s Manoj Jha, DMK’s T Siva were among the prominent opposition members who participated in the protest today. On the other hand, TMC, BSP and AAP did not participate in the agitation.

When they reached the protest site to extend their support to the farmers, the politicians raised slogans carrying placards saying ‘Save farmers, save India’.

Parliamentary activities in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha are being disrupted due to the uproar by opposition parties. Protests have been taking place in both houses since the beginning of the monsoon session on July 19, demanding the repeal of three agricultural laws and the announcement of a probe into the Pegasus espionage charges.

Farmers have been protesting at various borders in the national capital since November 26 last year against three newly enacted agricultural laws: the Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020; Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Agricultural Services Act 2020 and Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
