Mysuru: Mysuru is gearing up for Ganeshotsava celebrations on Wednesday. The special guests to Mysuru, the nine Dasara jumbos, will get special attention during the festival.
Special pujas will be offered and a special breakfast will be served to the elephants. They will not be taken out for training on the Dasara procession route on Wednesday evening to allow the mahouts and kavadi families to celebrate the festival.
On Wednesday at 11am, special puja will be offered to all the Dasara elephants by the forest department and the Mysuru Palace Board. Later, these elephants will be offered sugar cane and jaggery.
On Tuesday, the elephants participated in the rehearsal which started after a puja in front of the Kote Anjaneya Swamy temple. The elephants moved through Balarama Dwara, KR Circle, Ayurveda College Circle, and Torch Light Parade Grounds, and returned in the same route.
Meanwhile, the city is gearing up for the Ganeshotsava celebrations. As there was no rain on Tuesday, the devotees were able to start preparations and perform Gowri pooja without any disruptions. The farmers from various villages are busy selling sugarcane, flowers, and other items required for the special pujas.
At Gangothri Public School of the city, as part of the celebrations, a clay Ganesha idol was installed. Teachers created awareness about the importance of shunning idols made of PoPs using different colours. School administrator Kanti Nayak, and head master Mohammed Farooq led the celebrations.
