A photographer saves a woman from drowning in the sea at the Gateway of India in Mumbai. The woman had fallen into the sea after she lost her balance while taking a selfie at the iconic place in the city. She was sitting on a security wall near the Gateway of India when she fell into the sea on Monday.
In a dramatic video that has gone viral on social media, the man (photographer) can be seen holding the woman with the help of an inflated tube and dragging the two towards the shore with the help of a rope.
“At 7 pm I saw the woman sitting on the security wall at the Gateway of India. I saw someone fall. Called the constable and 2 women. I jumped into the sea, helped her put on an inflated tube and pulled her out I just thought of saving him,” said photographer Gulab Chandra.
This is not the first time people have risked their lives at tourist places while taking selfies, but it is not the first time that strangers have risked their lives to save others.
