MP: ‘PM Modi remembers Saint Ravidas during elections,’ alleges Congress chief Kharge

New Delhi: Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday came down heavily on Prime Minister Narendra Modi allagedly for politicising in the name of Saint Ravidas, a revered figure for Scheduled Castes, during the elections only.

Mallikarjun Kharge also pointed out that the Prime Minister had laid down the foundation stone of a Rs 100 crore memorial-cum-temple of Sant Ravidas  by PM Modi earlier this month, Mr Kharge said “they laid the foundation of Saint Ravidas temple in Sagar but demolished his in Delhi”.

Kharge said the PM Modi recalls Saint Ravidas on the times when the elections are near. While taking a jibe at PM Modi, Kharge promised the people of Madhya Pradesh to build a university after Saint Ravidas in MP’s Sagar that is in the Bundelkhand region. The Congress chief was campaigning for the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections scheduled this year.

Caste-census in Madhya Pradesh if Congress comes to power

As calculated in 2011 Census, there were 1.13 crore Dalits in the state. The president of the grand-old party alleged that the Modi government halted a project on the Bundelkhand package by not sanctioning it on the recommendation of senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

During his campaign in Sagar, the Congress chief announced that they will conduct caste-based census in the state once they come to power.

If Congress makes government in the state, they will give Rs 1500 per month to women. They will allot LPG gas cylinder at Rs 500 and will bring back Old Pension Scheme (OPS). It should be noted that reversing OPS was a key point that Conrgess flagged in Himachal Pradesh to win the elections last year.
