A minor boy ended his life in the school hostel after the warden allegedly did not give him a mobile phone to wish his mother a happy birthday, police said on Sunday. Poorvaj (14) was a resident of Hosakote, Bangalore. Police said the juvenile requested the warden for a mobile phone to call his mother to wish her on her birthday (June 11).

But, the warden reportedly did not hand over the phone. Moreover, when the boy’s family members tried to contact him several times, they could not talk to him as he was not allowed to speak, the police said. He told that this hurt the boy and he hanged himself leaving a suicide note.

He said that Poorvaj took this extreme step just before midnight on Saturday. Other students of the hostel found Purvaj dead this morning and informed the hostel management. Police said the boy’s parents reached the hostel later in the day. Further investigation is on, he said.
