More women are also now buying property for investment.

At least 65% of women respondents in a survey prefer investing in real estate, followed by 20% in favor of stock markets.

Real estate consultant Anarock has conducted a survey which reveals that 65% of women respondents prefer to invest in real estate, 20% in stocks and only 8% in gold.

As per the report, 8% of female respondents prefer gold, and 7% prefer FDs (fixed deposits).

The sample size of the consumer survey was 5,500, of which 50% of the respondents were women.

The report states that 83% of women respondents are looking at homes priced above Rs 45 lakh. Affordable homes are the least preferred under this price range, the report said.

“A budget range of Rs 45-90 lakh is the ‘sweet spot’ for 36 per cent women home seekers, and 27 per cent prefer premium homes ranging from Rs 90 lakh to Rs 1.5 crore. 20 per cent prefer luxury homes priced above Rs 1.5 crore.”

Santosh Kumar, Vice Chairman, Anarock Group, said, “Over the past decade, women have emerged as a major residential real estate buyer segment, especially in urban centres. Their preferences are also clearly shaping the new trends – from big homes, ready-to-move-in properties to specific budgets, they know exactly what they want.”

“And like millennials, their preferences now influence the supply that developers put in the market,” Kumar added.

More women are also now buying property for investment.

According to the survey, the proportion of women buying property for end use and investment has changed from the previous survey. It is now at 77:23, while earlier it was 82:18.
